Samuel LeRoy Engel Sr

Grew up (more or less) in Holliday's Cove, WV. Attended summer youth conferences at Bethany. Married Millie Childers in 1952.Worked 10 years for PPG in New Martinsville, WV. Moved to
Burbank in 1960. Worked until 1992 as an aerospace chemist de-
veloping high temperature resistant materials for vehicle as well as
launch protestion including the Sidewinder missile and Thor-Delta launch vehicle. Active in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
Musically involved with the Burbank Community Band, L.A, County Sheriff's Concert Band and UCLA Alumni Band. 76 years of youth/adult service in the Boy Scouts of America.

Pledged to Phi Chapter during my Freshman year (1945) Became
song leader in 1946. Captured the first Greek Sing and Swing trophy directing a group of tone-deaf jocks through "Brothers",
"Blue Moon" and the Russian song "Forward to Arms Comrades".
Roommates in the house included Dan Heatherington and John
Fink. Found "Tau" our Irish Setter mascot in my bunk on more than one occasion. Little Brothers were Roland Kamerer, "Peanuts" Huhn, Bob Switzer and Ashby Hoover. Still in touch with Rollie and Warren Mulston. Thank God for the many fond memories from the Banks of the Old Buffalo.
